Woodstock Elementary reached out to us to upgrade their gym floor but there were some existing problems and had outlived its lifespan as a useful floor covering. The current poured floor was cracking and failing and the existing subfloor was heavily sloped at 1 half of the room which meant that our team needed to demo the existing floor then prime and pour a self-leveler.
Our experienced team has worked on numerous overlays for gyms and multi-purpose flooring projects in the past with great results. Since the existing flooring was an overlay upon asphalt, our team conducted a Hazardous Materials sampling only to find there was evidence of lead paint having been used at one time below the existing flooring - in addition to asbestos in the seams.
The Mondo product is a great product that works well for both a gym/playcourt solution as well as a multipurpose room(gym/cafeteria). The other advantage of the Mondo Floor is that it creates an opportunity to encapsulate the existing flooring and avoid a costly demo/abatement project.
A specialist in Mondo Flooring, all of our installers are manufacturer certified. Together with the client, we decided to install Mondo Everlay underlayment to avoid potential future moisture issues and Mondo Advance NG 6mm Rubber. Our team conducted a pre installation walk to make sure we were all on the same page as to expectations considering the existing condition of the Woodstock Playcourt. The end result was a great looking and functional gym floor.
